General Z and the art of provoking self -taught

When it was epidemic, General Z-ERS-born between 1997 and 2012-entered adulthood. Today, after enduring a particularly difficult time when locking, today they are facing an acute mental health crisis. As a result, in 2024, many of them ask more of their working life.

When my research team at Harvard interviewed 80 students in General Z, we realized the overwhelming desire to double our efforts to real life. This means doing things they are passionate about, creating meaningful bonds with peers, creating their own public – that means their tastes and preferences, their sexual identity, their past harm – to those who surround them Have been, as and when they are so moved by mankind

In general, the General Z-ERS is also very skeptical of pursuing an American dream of his elders. For example, many home ownership not only be out of reach, but also as another consumer-addictive trap of the “hydonatical treadmill” that is avoided. They do not want to hide their personal priorities for profitability and hidden important aspects of their identity in order to perform “ideal self” traditionally expected by employers. In the past, this has often been dictated to its complete assignment (up 40 hours per week) to external targets. That’s not.

Students of General Z College we interviewed have special questions from their employers. They intend to combine their passion for hard work and entrepreneurship with self -realization, balance of work and life, social engagement and political interaction. Normal incentives are not performed for employees.

In order to continue attracting these young workers as a retirement, employers must nurture organizational cultures that facilitate what I know – visible and valuable to others. Likewise, “seeing others” must become a new management mantra. In this regard, the “dependence groups” of workers with similar interests or identities are of particular importance. This makes people diverse in the growing workplace to talk about how their lives experience, what they wish, and how to improve the situation.

In 2024, this follow -up of self -creation and realization means that culture therapy will play a more important role than in the past. Workers and managers will be less focused on “working” more than “better work” and think more about talking to what motivates employees beyond economic necessities.

Gig’s economy, as well as opportunities for self-employment that can be used as an entrepreneurial tool, also gives Gen Z-ERS to use everyday work.

However, there are important differences in social classes. In a study on how to respond to medium-sized college students and workers to COVID-19, the first group most likely seeing themselves as leaders of social change, while the second saw their dreams limited to reality to support family Is your own. Human beings also acted with a much shorter time horizon and understood epidemic challenges in the long history of crises. In the face of this background, in 2024, the pursuit of enthusiasm by many sources with fewer resources is still considered a luxury, while the division between the school and the rest of the population continues to deepen, including effort. To dignity through work, if we want to live in healthy societies, we must recognize for those who do not have a university education and learn how to see others correctly.
