FTC reminds important posts of Amazon, Microsoft and Artificial Intelligence Companies

The Trump Federal Commerce Commission has since Tuesday morning, including important consumer protection information on artificial intelligence and the IAEA’s privacy lawsuits under the head of the former Lina Khan chair against companies such as Amazon and Microsoft, has eliminated four years of commercial guidance blogs, including important consumer support information on artificial information. More than 300 blogs were removed.

On the FTC website, a page that hosts all agency jobs and agency guidance blogs, there is no longer information on the former President Joe Biden’s government, current and former FTC employees who spoke of fear of retribution. These blogs contain FTC advice on how large technology companies can prevent violations of consumer protection laws.

One of the deleted blogs now entitled “Hi, Alexa! What do you do with my data?” It explains how, according to the FTC complaints, Amazon and its loop security camera products are said to apply sensitive consumer data to teach e -commerce giant algorithms. (Amazon opposed FTC claims.) It also guides companies that handle similar products and services. Another post titled “$ 20 Million FTC Settlement Microsoft Xbox Addresses illegal Kids Data Collection: A COPPA Game Change” teaches technical companies how to comply with the Pediatric Privacy Protection Act by using the 2023 Microsoft Settlement. This settlement following FTC claims that Microsoft obtained data from children using Xbox systems without the consent of their parents or supervisors.

“In terms of the message to the industry, we are trying to erase things from history only,” says Wired.

Another eliminated FTC blog titled “Deception Test: Consumer Trust Engineering” explains how jobs can refuse to create chat dads that violate FTC law against unfair or deceptive products. This blog was awarded in 2023 for “Excellent Explanation of Artificial Intelligence”.

The Trump administration has received extensive support from the technology industry. Big technology companies such as Amazon and Meta, as well as technology entrepreneurs such as Openai CEO Sam Altman, all donated to Trump’s inauguration. Other leaders of the Silicon Valley, such as Elon Mask and David Sachs, officially advise the government. The so -called government of government efficiency (DOGE) uses technicians made from Musk technology companies. And now, federal agencies, such as the Public Services Office, have begun to eliminate artificial intelligence products such as GSAI, a government chat for a general purpose.

FTC did not respond immediately to the request of the Wired comment.

A former FTC official tells Wiried that the removal of blogs under the Federal Records Act and the Free Government Data Code raises serious concerns. During the Biden administration, the FTC leadership puts “alert” labels above the general decisions of previous governments that are no longer agreed.

Since President Donald Trump has named Andrew Ferguson as FTC President in January, the Republican regulator has pledged to use his powers to look for large technology companies. However, unlike Khan, Ferguson’s criticisms around the Republican Party’s long -standing claims that social media operating systems such as Facebook and Instagram are conservative online censorship. Prior to his election as the boss, Ferguson told Trump that his view of the agency also included Biden’s era regulations on artificial intelligence and integration standards.

In an interview with CNBC last week, Ferguson stated that content moderation could be equal to anti -monopoly violations. “If companies admire the quality of their product by kicking people because of their specific perspectives, this can be a sign of the problem of competition,” he said.

The sources that talk to Wired on Tuesday claim that technology companies are the only groups that benefit from the removal of these blogs.

“They can teach their artificial intelligence models, and if the government intends to use this data while doing its job while censorship, it is talking about a big game in censorship at the end of the day.” I think this is a great technology change. “
