Mark Chen, The senior research officer in Openai sent a strong note to the staff on Saturday and promised to go to the war with the social giant for the top research talent. The note, submitted to Openai employees in Slack and obtained by Wired, came days after Matta CEO Mark Zuckerberg successfully recruited four senior researchers to join the Meta Superintitis Laboratory.
Chen wrote: “I feel visceral now, as if someone is broken into our house and stole something.” “Please trust that we are sitting next to each other.”
Chen promised that he collaborated with Sam Altman, CEO of Openai and other leaders of the company, “collaborated with those who have suggestions,” he added: “We have been more leading from the past, we are re -reading and we have creative ways to recognize and reward superior talent.”
However, it even seems to be disappointed to maintain his employees, Chen said he has “high personal standards of fairness” and wants to maintain superior talent. “While I am fighting for each of you, I don’t do it at a fair price for others,” he wrote.
The news comes as competition for top artificial intelligence researchers in the Silicon Valley is warming up. Zuckerberg was particularly aggressive in his approach and deals with some Openai employees, according to Altman’s podcasting with his brother Jack Altman in podcast. Numerous sources in Openai have been directly confirmed by this number. According to the Wall Street Journal, the CEO of Meta has also personally reached potential recruitrs. Chen wrote about Slack: “Over the past month, the meta has aggressively made its new artificial intelligence effort, and has repeatedly (and mostly unsuccessful) has tried to attract some of our strongest talents with focused packages.”
A source close to meta efforts confirmed that the company has significantly increased its research hire, with special attention to the Talent Openai and Google. One source tells Wired, while a top competitor in meta is less culture in meta. “They have not necessarily expanded the group, but for superior talent, the sky is permissible,” the source says.
Both Openai and Meta did not respond to comment requests.
Chen’s note contained messages from seven other research leaders in the company, where they wrote notes for employees in a clear attempt to persuade them to stay. One of the leaders of the research team encouraged staff to achieve if they received a proposal from meta: “If they put pressure on you, or make ridiculous explosions, just tell them to go back, pressure people in the most important decision.
