“Queer’s history is always the history of resistance, because this is what is weird,” he adds. Whether it is sexual identity or gender, being cowardly is abnormal. “Institutions, even those who are well, even schools that try very difficult and even excellent public schools, they are invested in a version of history from top to bottom. And the history of the desert is never the case.”
Ryan says that to “meet this moment”, it was important to argue just about being a weird and black or transistor in the nineteenth century – they had to connect people to each other. “We bring the history of the revolution, but we are also trying to create society,” he says.
Thanks to social media and smartphones, how to connect and create society has changed.
Michael Brunkski, a professor at Harvard University, has been involved in the policy and activity of LGBT since 1969. He has authored several books on Queer’s history and politics. According to him, his students today are often amazed at the work without social media. “All of these new technologies are extremely useful and efficient, but they often lack interpersonal relationships,” he says. Civil rights began of all kinds as the actions of society.
“Prioritizing the reality of society is very important,” says Brunksky. “We do not actually make up societies with the voice of Jir, this may be useful for contact with people, but this is not a community. Society means being together,” he says.
There are written history and are added every day. Our phones make it easier to maintain record than ever. Everyone is able to take photos, videos and sound recorders. But websites can be changed, the media can be eliminated. “What is the benefit of if Amazon can disturb the switch that everyone is watching a concurrent business,” says Peppermint. “We are technology in this period, but we must clearly go back to an analog way of recording history.”
He points to Marion Stokes, an activist and civil rights archive who has recorded more than 30 years of 24 -hour television broadcasting, creating a record between 1979 and 2012.
Despite the changes that are being made now, the Trump administration will not be in power forever. It is possible for every step back to the desert community in the future. At least he says Brunkski, Trump can’t really clear trans -Americans or query.
“There is an interesting contradiction that every cleansing act admits that something was there before,” he says. “Active cleansing is actually a confirmation that has existed to start.”
At the age of 76, Brunksky before companies are protesting marches, not parade, long memories of events such as pride before companies are in it. He says it is important for desert societies, however, they are formed, “keep this knowledge alive” – whether it publishes this book and magazines, express oral dates, or preserve other aspects of their culture.
“What the government is doing is terrible and destructive for a moment,” he says. “We have to think about the ways around it. The government has a lot of power, but it’s just the government – it’s not a society.”
