The optimal fuel path for Mars involves the time when the two planets are almost on the opposite side of the sun. This throwing window is repeated every 18 months, and the nine months travel time means that any problem on it must be resolved by the crew without a rescue option. The faster paths can be achieved (approximately six months), but this is very energetic.
For this reason, the lunar gate will be useful and allow astronauts to get out of the moon from the moon, away from the moon, and from there to Mars. Of course, the material for the gate must first be sent to the lunar gate. But by dividing energy needs, it means slower but more efficient propulsion methods for part of Mars.
There is no doubt that Spacex will be able to land on Mars. But can they safely kill people and get them back? As a company, the idea of profit, along with astronaut safety, will be a strong factor. We just have to pay attention to some of Boeing’s recent problems (astronauts have been stuck at the International Space Station for seven months) to see that private companies may want to slow down when transporting people.
It is unlikely that musk will take place on the White House government and the billionaire’s proposal by Jared Isaac (a private astronaut) as NASA’s new head.
Critical decisions
So there are two options to choose from NASA: either continue with your Artemis program and your lunar gate, or target Mars’ goal and depend primarily on musk.
The budget of both options probably means that none of these things happen. Of course, if the gate is already in the month, Mars’ mission will be easier.
The timing table involved here is important. Spacex said he will send five unmanned ships to Mars next year and aim to send humans to Mars in 2028. This appears to be ambitious, especially that involves refueling in the circuit, but if the budget and additional materials enter the project, it can potentially earlier.
Since the lunar gate was built in the first year in 2027, it is unlikely to be operational in 2028. So prioritizing Mars’ discoveries on the lunar gate may lead us to Mars faster – but it will be dangerous.
If the United States is out of programs for exploring the month, other countries can expand their presence in those areas easier – with a simpler way to start Mars. These are probably much longer in time, but if musk fails to reach Mars in the next few years, these countries may have a margin.
