Pubs and restaurants are warning they will cut prices and prices unless Rachel brings back tax in next week’s budget.
The sector has been hammered since last year’s budget proposed national insurance (ni) and the minimum wage.
A survey conducted by the UK hospitality and other trade bodies found that almost ten firms are reprimanding staff or raising prices without emergency assistance.
The groups said: ‘The situation facing our local pubs, neighborhood restaurants and other places of hospitality is becoming more and more dangerous.’
They want cuts to business rates and VAT, and changes to NI to protect pubs and restaurants that support jobs.
